Traditional Intaglio Printmaking

This is a course in traditional intaglio printmaking centered on etching techniques employing line and tone and will address direct methods such as drypoint and engraving. The course will be flexible to accommodate beginners as well as experienced printmakers who would like a refresher on etching and printing technique. Students will explore black and white as well as color imagery using multiple plates. The production of images will be based in drawing therefore no photographic techniques will be covered by the instructor. Instructor: Duffy O'Connor

The CPC continues to offer private classes in all mediums. Fees are $110 for a 3-hour session one-on-one with a professional instructor.

Worksessions

If you have a basic understanding of printmaking and you don't need 'how-to' instruction, you can sign up to print at the Chicago Printmakers Collaborative for three consecutive hours between 12:00 and 5:00 PM on Thursdays, Fridays or Saturdays. The cost per worksession is $40. Someone will be there to help you find what you need, but other than that, you're on your own! Reservations are necessary so please call ahead, 773 293 2070.

Private & Semi-Private Classes

Possible areas of study include: Etching, Photoetching, Lithography (Stone, plate, and paper), Screenprinting, Relief (wood and linoleum), Bookmaking, Collograph, Monoprint, and Polaroid Transfer.

Are you interested in taking a printmaking class but can't fit it into your schedule? Maybe you have something specific in mind for a project you want to do, or you want to learn a process that's not covered this session. If so, you can arrange to take a private class. Private classes provide very flexible scheduling and one-on-one contact with the instructor so you can learn exactly what you want and need.
