This hugely popular summer course in traditional intaglio printmaking is back! It's etching boot camp, without the boots. Etching techniques of line, aquatint and softground using zinc or copper plates will be covered. Direct intaglio techniques such as drypoint and engraving will also be addressed. The instruction will be flexible to accommodate beginners as well as experienced printmakers who would like to refresh their etching and printing skills. Students will explore black and white as well as color imagery. Additional weekend work hours will be made available July 10-11.

Traditional Etching

Blast Into Screenprinting!
with Alan Lerner
Sundays, 12noon - 3 pm
June 6 - August 1, 2010 (no class July 4th)
8 weeks, $285 ($50 deposit required to hold a place in the class)

Engage color in an immediate way with this overview of the screenprinting process. Both photo and hand-stenciling processes will be covered, as well as all you need to know about ink preparation, registration and pulling prints. Appropriate for all levels of experience, from beginner to advanced. Join us to see why everyone is screaming for screen printing!

The CPC continues to offer private classes in all mediums. Fees are $125 for a 3-hour session one-on-one with a professional instructor.

Worksessions

If you have a basic understanding of printmaking and you don't need 'how-to' instruction, you can sign up to print at the Chicago Printmakers Collaborative for three consecutive hours between 12:00 and 5:00 PM on Thursdays, Fridays or Saturdays. The cost per worksession is $40. Someone will be there to help you find what you need, but other than that, you're on your own! Reservations are necessary so please call ahead, 773 293 2070.

Private & Semi-Private Classes

Possible areas of study include: Etching, Photoetching, Lithography (Stone, plate, and paper), Screenprinting, Relief ( and linoleum), Bookmaking, Collograph, Monoprint, and Polaroid Transfer.

Are you interested in taking a printmaking class but can't fit it into your schedule? Maybe you have something specific in mind for a project you want to do, or you want to learn a process that's not covered this session. If so, you can arrange to take a private class. Private classes provide very flexible scheduling and one-on-one contact with the instructor so you can learn exactly what you want and need.
