In "Beyond Boundaries - 35 Artists Connect" members of the Collaborative and invited guests created 12" x 12" unique works of art using materials of their choice: paper, glass, wood, paint, fabric etc. Each work of art contains a line or visual element that crosses the center, connecting one artist to the next, moving outside the borders of an individual space and into a new boundless one. The modular format of the project allows the exhibition to travel, be reconfigured and find new connections along the way.

This exhibition is now TOURING! Our 2007-2008 schedule:

The CPC is still looking for a few more venues in which to connect with new artists. Here's how it works: The core Chicago show is traveling from one city to the next, and we're asking that each location add/invite their own 5-10 artists, who will each produce an original 12"x 12" piece with the thematic line element. These added artworks can be displayed amongst the traveling images from Chicago as the host gallery sees fit. The works of new artists will be added to the CPC website. The core show will then travel on. and on...
For more information on how to HOST THIS EXHIBIT and PARTICIPATE in this project, please contact Deborah Maris Lader at ink1101@aol.com or 773-293-2070. The work in the Chicago portion of the show is not for sale, but the works by added artists can certainly be made available per the discretion of the hosting venue. If you are part of a NON-PROFIT space, a PRINT WORKSHOP with a designated gallery space, or a University Gallery, this exhibition is PERFECT for you!!
A collection of postcards of the original art has been created to celebrate this project. Allowing the public to purchase a form of the art, where they are actively participating in the idea of going beyond boundaries allows the theme to come full circle. The post cards can then be used for correspondence, displayed, or arranged in a variety of ways. A boxed collection of cards is available for purchase at various locations in the Chicago area including Powell's Book Store, Enjoy (in the Lincoln Square neighborhood), The Illinois Artisan Shop and The Chicago Printmakers Collaborative. Each boxed set retails for $20. The CPC will be happy to ship one or more sets of these gorgeous cards directly to you if you include a $5 shipping and handling fee and send a check made out to Chicago Printmakers Collaborative. We also accept VISA/MASTERCARD for orders over $50.
